God has given you one face, and you make yourself another. ~William Shakespeare
We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves. ~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld
The great majority of us are required to live a life of constant duplicity. Your health is bound to be affected if, day after day, you say the opposite of what you feel, if you grovel before what you dislike, and rejoice at what brings you nothing but misfortune. ~Boris Pasternak
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. ~e.e. cummings
Hateful to me as the gates of Hades is that man who hides one thing in his heart and speaks another. ~Homer

My favorite: "We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves. ~François Duc de La Rochefoucauld
I think that is the reason Socrates said, "Know thyself!"
We All wear Many Faces depending on the Emotion, Situation or Moment-oftentimes wearing them for our Own Selves as much as for the sake of Others; yet (too often) we Forget to take them Off-and we start Believing the Face we have Decided to Wear is our True Self-even when it is Not.
Our Thoughts, Intent, and Spirits (May) be in the Right Place-but as long as we have adorned ourselves with a False Image-we are as Empty as the Reflection that stares back at us in the mirror...
But even with our True Face-if our Tongues lash and sting as the Rattlesnake, if our Words Bite as the Grizzly when it feeds, and our Hearts are as Dark as a Cave-the face we wear will Consume us, and Swallow us Whole.
"If we have More than One Tongue, More than One Mind, More than One Heart-we will remain Split between our True Selves, and the Self we have Created in Falsehood-and the Rest of our Journey will neither Be Sincere nor Heartfelt..."

Thanks for stopping by.....you are a good friend to me.
We all have different faces for different stages of our lives - and some of them I like - in fact - I wish I could keep longer - but I have out grown that face and am using another at this stage. I am waiting for the face that "gets to get away with anything" because people say "She is just excentric" - I think I will use that one alot!
That 'eccentric' face?.......they were sayin' that ten years ago about me. Then it progressed into 'she is seriously screwed UP!'......that's when it becomes a problem. It's funny, Lookin', the accusation of seriously 'screwed up' came when I went deeper into the Lord and then took in Gabriel. Crazy, huh? I can see how they would not like what has happened recently but the whole 'screwed up' thing started looooooong before that. In fact, my daughter told me that she 'tracked' it back to when our church went through revival. Alrighty then! That about says it all for me!
